Sorry if the Beehiv newsletter delay got to you. Last few days have got away from me… and even with a power outage behind me, still got a significant to-do list.

With that, I’m sure you all have heard of this big news:

Ukraine is agreeing to get at least 100 Saab JAS 39 Gripens of various models. Likely will require a new factory for Saab. Ukainian Review and Breaking Defense gave good, though coverage of the long term strategic investment. A Ukrainian pilot on Instagram gave a long essay why the Gripen. I’m sure we all have thoughts.

In other news, the US Coast Guard is finally phasing out the MH-65Es pictured above and replacing with MH-60R variants. As well as replacing some of their current time-limited MH-60s… this is a big deal as the US Coast Guard has needed new aviation funding for some time.

Finally, the Belgians are getting F-35s delivered and just added 11 to their order. Meanwhile, the Danes ordered another 16. Canada is on the cusp of finally committing to a full F-35 buy as Billie Flynn points out that the F-35’s competitor in Gripen is partnering w/ Bombardier’s only serious competitor.

I’m sure that’s enough to get started.
